Falling in love with Funny Girl
A late bloomer on how beautiful this film is and appreciating all it's INSANELY GOOD fashion
Flying back from the South of France I was in movie mode. I searched United’s very nice, varied selection, unfortunately experiencing much of nothing new because I have been an avid movie watcher recently. I had already watched my favorite movie that flight, Crazy Rich Asians, for the twenty-second time and was in search for something inspiring.
In my scrolling I stumbled upon ‘Funny Girl’ (1968) and admired Barbara Streisand’s gorgeous face in the little digitized movie poster. My mind immediately reeled back to remember my theater arts class and how much my drama teacher used to rave about it. I clicked without hesitation and settled into my seat with a huge bag of German potato chips (don’t ask), and watched in awe as Streisand took the screen wearing the most incredible pony-hair leopard coat and hat duo I had ever seen. Immediately I knew my world would be transformed, even if it was just for 2 hours and 35 minutes.
